Unwritten rules about what to wear

Are you 'in' or 'out', 'cool' and 'trendy' or simply 'unfashionable' and 'not in the know'???

I'm afraid to say I seem to have broken a few rules.

I have a winter dress that is brown and black....aaagh....shock, horror :ohmy:

I do wear silver and gold together these days, because both bracelets are sentimentally important. I have only come to that recently though, wouldn't have entertained it before!

I do not wear denim with denim...tick

I am not a big fan of mixing different patterns top and bottom...tick

I wear what I like and don't particularly mind what others think of it, but that's not always easy for others, especially teenagers who often have a personal need to fit in and not be seen as 'old fashioned'. Seems like the confident youngsters can get away with being 'quirky' and different. What a pity all these (silly/ ridiculous/ meaningless) rules stifle comfort and creativity for some.
