Network Review was created by Sally Ann Hart
Hi there,
I've had a couple of emails today from PB Buddies who have been working to prepare children for the holidays that are almost here. One, a PB practitioner in a primary school, spent time helping children review their networks and reminding them the people on the network who are school-based need to be replaced for the next 6 weeks. She reports that 'there was a glitter and marker pen-fest as the children decorated their network windmills before having a run round in the sunshine enjoying watching them spin' - hoping to have a photo of the finished article to share soon.
I then received this photo of a display for children who will be joining another school in September - I think it must feel great to be so prepared for next term :woohoo:

And here are the Network Pinwheels - I think they're a great way to remind children about their personal networks :)

Love the pin wheels - another reminder for us oldies of times gone by when we were happy and feeling safe, I hope.

About 40 children, who access PBs in weekly sessions at school, reviewed their networks last week in preparation for the school holidays. It was great fun, I think, and gave them opportunity to make links with parts of the process - many of them talking about Theme 1, Theme 2, EWS, persistence, protective interruption, and able to explain why Network Review is important.

A few felt a little worrying - young children only naming neighbourhood pals, struggling to identify any adults who help them to feel safe. Others where perhaps they only have a parent and one other, unable to name 5 adults for a full network. One of those children, I suggested 'Childline' and said I'd get the number, and the child quickly rattled it off, having memorised it - how empowered.

Many of them though, feeling confident and decisive, named 'Mum' as the person at home and some of the children were able to come up with as many as 6 or 7 named adults they could turn to during the 6 weeks school break - which felt really reassuring.

All ready for the holidays now, we can look forward to reviewing them again in September as the new school year begins
