PBs in Children's Books was created by Sally Ann Hart
I have been meaning to post this list for a while now and am aware that I have posted more up to date resources that help promote PBs and do not want these 'older favourites' to get lost in history.
Attached is a list of children's books that were reviewed at a PBs in Practice meeting held in Northamptonshire 'many moons ago'. Really hoping most people who have children in their lives will have at least one on a shelf or in a pile somewhere - if not, there's always the library.
This list illustates to me that the PB process is accessible and doesn't have to cost a penny.
Looking forward to other PBPeople sharing their lists

Sally Ann, thanks so much for this really helpful list - a great idea.
I love using children's stories to communicate with children in this way. I have a list too, (my favourite is Alfie Gets in First!) which I will attach now. Would qualify this by saying as Sally Ann said - not all completely consistent in terms of language so the odd one might need a little on-the-hop editing.
Thanks again for sharing these ideas
Really look forward to hearing other people's lists and favourite titles.

There are sets of tiny little board books which are all entitled "I Feel....." which are available on Amazon for £8 or in Dunnes at the moment for £3.50. There are 10 in the set which is in a column shaped box. Although they look like 'baby' books, there is in my opinion perhaps a little too much text in them for a baby and they are really great for 3-8 year olds!
www.amazon.co.uk/Carry-Along-Feel-Board-...ords=i+feel+parragon
I used them with several children yesterday and the children were able at the end to talk about "I feel [angry/hungry/playful] etc when......" as each book asks them on the last page to talk about when they feel/have felt like that.
As they are tiny books, they are appealing to little hands. They only need the odd edit here and there to tweak the language so it is PB consistent.
Highly recommend them -- lots of adults in school have been enjoying them too as they are stacked on my desk

Hi Judith,
Think I know the set you mean as I 'stumbled' across these in TKMaxx a while ago. I use them with my pre-school groups and parents as they are a great way to highlight an emotional vocabulary right from the start. The children also like to use them to build towers!
Like you, I agree that the language only needs minor tweeks to ensure consistency with The Language of Safety and I really like the way it poses the question: 'When do you feel ......?'at the end rather than sticking with 'What make you ......? This helps people see that there is no right or wrong way to feel, we simply feel.
Well found and thanks for the 'heads up' about where to buy another set - would make a great Christmas present me thinks

Great - even less expensive than Dunnes! Thanks, Ann
I am working with a child 1:1 who lives in a 'chaotic' household and although her siblings present with behaviours consistent with trauma, this child who is the youngest seems to do a lot of masking and always seems like she lives the life of a Disney princess. I used the books with her last week and she chose one at a time, starting with 'Happy', then 'Playful'. The next time I worked with her, she chose 'Proud', then 'Sleepy'. Then, she raised something about home which was rather dark and her demeanor changed as she spoke. Suddenly, she said "Let's read another one! Let's read this one - I Feel Angry!" choosing the 'Angry' book. It was so encouraging to see a child who has thus far found it difficult to express herself openly now using the set of books as perhaps a very subtle form of communication in a one-step removed way?
£3.50 very well spent, I think!
