We can choose! was created by Judith Staff
Always feeling chuffed to find 'new' books to add to my little library, I came across a book recently called "If I Could Be....." The title is not 100% PB consistent however the book itself, I think, is a brilliant way to remind children that we can choose -- be it shoes, cakes, friendships, behaviour -- we can choose.

So far, I have used it to work with children either one-to-one or just 2 at a time, and we have enjoyed sharing the very thorough illustrations together, each choosing a favourite shoe/pudding/house on every page and hopefully feeling a little empowered through the activity. Sometimes children enjoy choosing more than one hairdo/dress/castle etc. Tomorrow, I plan to use the book in a similar way to gain the "Voice of the Child" for two children I have to attend meetings for. I am hoping it will be a lovely platform to open up a discussion in terms of what is working well for them in their complicated lives and what they would choose instead, "If I could.....", were they given the opportunity to voice their thoughts.

Only £3.99 at The Book People, and hardback edition - I think it makes a lovely gift, too!

Hi Judith,
Agree totally and I love the illustrations by Nick Sharratt. The edition I have has another book included called 'Just Imagine' which I think is a great way of practising 'Free-Thinking' all kinds of scenarios.
Thanks so much for sharing this,
SA

PS Just checked the link you supplied and it is the one with both books in one cover - sounds even better value!
