A child I know who is aged 8, and is a big fan of PBs, highlighted the book One Night in the Zoo (Judith Kerr) to me as being a good resource for explaining 'Safe Secrets', in her opinion ....
I think I agree with her - Thanks S :woohoo:

Hi Judith,
Thanks for this - just read the book and think I can see what your young friend means. The lines:
'One magical, moonlit night in the zoo
An elephant jumped in the air and flew.
But nobody knew'

sounds like a safe secret to me :)
Reading further:
Seven tigers sneezed: Atchoo! Atchoo!
Atchoo! Atchoo! Atchoo! Atchoo!
ATCHOO! And their seven sneezes blew
The feathers off a cockatoo.

doesn't sound quite as safe :(

I think this is a fantastic example of using the PB strategy of One Step Removed to illustrate safe and unsafe secrets. Please say 'Thank You' from me to the young person who discovered this.
