Hopefully you won't have noticed but over the last month I have been doing a major reworking of the site behind the scenes, with the aim of improving it's ranking in search results. For example the trainers directory page URL (web address ) that used to look like www.pbpeople.org.uk/index.php/trainers now reads www.pbpeople.org.uk/protective-behaviours-trainers which is more "liked" by Search Engines like Google and Bing.

Unfortunately this meant starting again with building up the scores that search engines use to rank their results, so we slipped a long way down for a while. The good news is that it is starting to work and we are now appearing on first or second pages for most PB searches. A great example of this is that currently if you Google " protective behaviours levels of resistance " the top result is the question posed by Lucy in this Forum! This is great news as it shows the Forum really can build into an open-access knowledge base for PBs.

I think I've done pretty much all I can from a site builder point of view - what would help us further would be more links to our site from others, so if anyone knows of and has influence on the links on other relevant sites, please put a word in for PBPeople!

Steve.

Dear Steve
I think you have done a stunning job with this web site. I have sent the details of it out to all CAMHS and CTPLD workers that I know are involved in PB's and will continue to promote it in our network meetings and training. I am very interested in the possibility of creating a part of the site that young people could have access to for resourses, what do you think?

Thank you all for your comments, it is all very encouraging. I'm finding it really rewarding to see the difference it has made to the PB community being able to link up nationally as well as internationally - it certainly doesn't feel like work to build and develop the site, loving every minute. :)

The Training Room is a section we have only just started to develop, and I see this as the entry point to all the libraries of resources, activities, meeting minutes etc - we can basically construct anything in there that you guys would like. To start off we will have open-access resources (as requested at the last PBPeople meeting) plus the already-built area dedicated to Trainers and Trainee Trainers (where there is a news "blog" in which we post the meeting minutes).

Thanks for posing the question regarding a young persons area, which can be discussed at next week's meeting. What sort of content would you like it to have, and in what way would you see it differing from the rest of the Resources area?

Steve
