Training in Warwickshire or Bath? was created by Amy Lee
Hi,
I live on a ship called Logos Hope. I am part of a crew of 400 people from 50 nationalities. We sail around the world with a large floating book shop with the aim of bringing 'Knowledge, Help and Hope'. Seeing the needs in the world, alongside my brief experience of teaching Protective Behaviours as a primary school teacher in Warwickshire (Ilmington School) has prompted me to design a course for teachers to teach Protective Behaviours to their pupils. Next March the ship will travel to the Philippines, and then on to Africa via a few more places. I would like to have the course up and running by then. So far, I have done a 'practice run' for the teachers in the Logos Hope School, which is the school that the children on board go to (about 30 of them, including 2 of my own!)I did a two hour training session, then followed up a month later with an assembly for the children and gave a feedback form to the teachers.
I realise that I could really do with some more training! I want to become as knowledgeable as possible so that I can design and teach a really effective course. The course I am designing will give the principles of PB, and then allow time and support for teachers to discuss and plan their own lessons that fit their culture and the background of the children.
We will be in the UK as a family in January 2015, based in Warwick. I will also be at home with the children in February, based near Bath. Does anyone know of, or is anyone able to offer a short training course for me, or the chance to 'shadow' a PB trainer during that time?

Hi Amy,
Thanks for getting in touch via the PBPeople forum - I feel really excited and interested to hear about your journey with PBs - would love to see your work too.
I'm based on the borders of Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire and was endorsed to train PBs in 2003. My work takes me across the country and I'm a founder member of PBPeople and also of the Protective Behavoiurs Training Partnership (PBTP). I would be very willing to meet with you when your over and be on your PB training network if you would find that helpful. I will have some courses on while you're in the UK - one already confirmed in Northampton and could see if you'd be able to come along and observe. Another of the PBTP training partners is based in Warwickshire, so may also be able to suggest another 'stop-off' on your journey.
I really hope we get to meet when you're next in the UK - I'd also feel happy to Skype or talk on the 'phone before then if you'd find that helpful - I could private message you contact details if you'd like to chat before your visit.
Looking forward to exploring the PB process with you,
Sally Ann
