There was an interesting programme on Restorative Justice on BBC3 last evening. Link to it on BBC I Player is here
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0419knq
. In it Brooke Kinsella explores restorative justice in various situations and whilst she concedes at the end of the programme she does not feel ready for it herself at the moment, she can see the merits of people being able to express their feelings in a safe environment in order to demonstrate the effect of someone's behaviours on an individual.

Hi Maureen,
Like you I find the Restorative Justice/Restorative Approach model really interesting particularly the way it fits with the PBs process in terms of feelings, thoughts and behaviour and especially because of the difference it can make to all involved. Will watch the programme on BBC 3 over the weekend.
Your post also reminded me of 'The Woolf Within' which was filmed a few years ago and really helped me to see what a difference Restorative Justice can make - not sure if you have seen it also, so am adding it here.
Coincidntally, Simon and I are facilitating a 4 day Specialist Practitioner course at the beginning of May and one of the people attending teaches in a school where Restorative Approach is used alongside PBs so looking forward to sharing more information then.
Thanks again for your contribution to the PBPeople forum,
Sally Ann

Thanks for sharing the YouTube clip - just demonstrates how empowering it is to be able to talk about our feelings for both perpetrator and victim. It can be really effective in all types of situation.

Hi All. I am a BIG fan of RJ. In fact when it came to UK the initial training had 1 day of PB training out of the 5 day course. I used to do that day and everyone involved were committed to PBs. Over the years the bureaucrats and other people who made the decisions took out the full day and watered it down to a couple of hours and then I am pretty sure no PBs is done now.
This may not be the big problem we may see it as because the RJ process is so consistent with PBS. Any RJ person would easily pick up the PB process. Obviously I would prefer the PB training to be there however we have to be realistic about costs and time for training.
Hopefully one of you will tape the programme for later use. I would love to see it if possible.
Cheers from Di

Think you're right Ann as just had a problem trying to access a programme mentioned in this week's NSPCC library - via cable tv and it was only available for 7 days, but online was slightly longer. Sometimes though YouTube comes up trumps
