A month's worth of activities! was created by Sally Ann Hart
To celebrate our 8th Birthday and to help people use the Protective Behaviours process to get through potentially another month of 'staying at home', I thought we could share a PB activity every day for the month of May :)
I will Tweet one every morning and add a link here so we have them all in one place.
Please feel free to add your own and share with your networks.
Wishing you all 'health and safety' at this tricky time,
SA xoxoxo
Here's day 1: Protective Behaviours encourages people to 'tune in' to their Early Warning Signs aka Physical Feelings.
Have a go at identifying an A-Z of these.

Feeling really chuffed with the level of interest from so many fab PB People and thank you for all the offers to contribute ideas.
Thanks too to Donna and her daughter for this comprehensive Early Warning Signs A-Z - I love it!

Day 2 Activity: 'F Word' Sentences
Building on yesterday's Early Warning Signs activity, have a go at making a feelings sentence using 3 randomly drawn letters from Scrabble tiles or by opening a book at any page and taking the first 3 letters from the 1st word. Then choose a letter to use as the first letter of a physical feeling, another for an emotional feeling and the final letter for the initial of a name - ideally a name that doesn't remind you of someone you know!
The first time I did this I got the letters D, I, E, which felt a lttle scary! However, I persisted and came up with 'Destiny was feeling Itchy and Excited!'
I use this activity to illustrate how helpful it is to know how other people are feeling and how empowering it feels to be able express feelings. It certainly provides a way to take the emotional temperature without having to read between the lines!
Looking forward to hearing your 'F word sentences' & hoping we have shared meaning!

Thank you to all who shared their 'F Word' sentences via Twitter :) Sometimes people find it really tricky to remember to put the word 'feeling' in their sentences, so this activity can act as a gentle reminder.
The Protective Behaviours process uses a Feelings, Thoughts, Behaviour model and this illustrates that feelings are feelings and not what I am, behaviour a reaction or a chosen response, each with an effect and our thinking can influence both the way we feel and how we behave. So it's really important to be able to recognise, name and communicate how we're feeling in a safe way - I think practising this activity using a one-step removed approach helps to develop this skill.

Day 3 Activity: The Colour Monster
Today's activity continues the feelings theme and a 'Name it to Tame it' idea.
Some of you may already be familiar with Anna Llena's The Colour Monster. If not here's a link to an audio version :
I made some Colour Monster Jars and decided not to stop at pink! (Wondering what feelings you think went with pink?) So how about making a Feelings Colour Chart and deciding what feelings might go with orange, purple, white, etc.
Looking forward to seeing your creations.
